Hunters vs Foxes
β˜… β˜… β˜… For a weekend away

Ideal for a city you do not know yet

A weekend away often ends up the same way: arrive, eat, drink, and wander a bit in between without a plan. Fine, but it is rarely what you talk about afterwards.

Because you set the play area yourself, Uitvossen works especially well in a city nobody knows. The hunters have to infer a direction from a handful of location pings, and the foxes have to find a route through a city they know just as poorly. You end up in corners of town you would never otherwise have seen β€” not because a guidebook said so, but because you were winning or dodging a chase.

The game runs on your phones and keeps track of the time, the jokers and the evidence itself. Nobody has to be the referee, so whoever organises it plays along too.

Why it works

Why this fits a weekend away

Fits in half a day

You choose the duration. Two hours between lunch and drinks is enough for a complete game with a winner.

Works in any city

There is no fixed route and nobody has to be there on the ground. You set the play area wherever you happen to be β€” at home, in Antwerp or in Berlin.

The end point is the bar

Put the secret end point where you were going to end up anyway. The whole group converges there on its own, with a winner and a pile of evidence.

Practical

The essentials

Group size
From 6 people upwards. Two teams of four to eight plays best.
Duration
Ninety minutes to three hours. You set the play time and the foxes' head start yourself.
Where
Any city with mobile coverage. Not knowing the city is a feature, not a problem.
What you need
One charged phone per team, with internet and location on. A power bank is not a luxury.
FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Does it work abroad?

Yes, anywhere you have mobile internet. The game is available in Dutch, English, German and French, so a mixed group is no problem.

How much data does it use?

Very little β€” it is a map with location points, not a video stream. Uploading evidence photos costs the most, and that is a handful of photos per team.

What if a phone runs out of battery?

Bring a power bank; the map and location pings use GPS at intervals. If a phone dies anyway, a teammate can open the same team link and carry on.

Can we start later in the day?

Yes. You can schedule a start time or simply start when everyone has arrived. Pausing mid-game is possible too.
